Fun Hotel in Old San Juan – Sharon M.

This is a quirky old hotel right in the heart of Old San Juan. Don’t stay if you are expecting the Ritz but if you’d like to experience the flavor of Old San Juan this is the place to stay. We’ve stayed 3 or 4 times before cruises, introducing new friends to it each time. The rooms are not large and are pretty bare bones but that is the fun part of staying here. We always get one of the rooms on the front with the small balcony over looking the street. As in other reviews there are lots of places to walk to , for food, shopping, and of course Pina Colatas. I highly recommend this as a stop either before or after your cruise.

Great Location – Kevin K.

This hotel is in a great location in Old San Juan, which is sometimes hard to gauge before actually arriving to the city. It is right next door to the beautiful Plaza de Armas, near some great food options, and since it is relatively in the center of the attractions, it just a short walk from anything else you will want to see regardless of where you end up. The staff was very friendly and accommodating when we had questions. The staircase and elevator worried us as they were a little small/outdated, but room was the perfect size for two people.

A lovely hotel in a great location – Val S.

This was our third stay at this hotel It is old but in keeping with the area. Room (202) was spacious and more than adequate for our 3 night stay. Nice café at the entrance where we enjoyed breakfast. Would return in a heartbeat (but it is a long way from Australia & NZ where we live).

Historic Atmosphere

If you want a clean, comfortable room in a historic setting, this is your hotel. While it is not a luxury hotel, this lovely old building has a quaint charm. The location is perfect for exploring Old San Juan on foot. I remember reading a review which complained about the elevator; I liked it. Yes, it’s old and small, but that’s the point of staying in a place like this. Another reviewer mentioned the lack of windows. The buildings in this area have retained the original architecture as much as possible, therefore, there are no modern windows. If it bothers you, book a balcony suite and open the doors to the balcony. We loved the view. I can’t comment on the wifi because I never tried it. The only glitch in our stay was the absence of wash cloths in the bathroom. When we asked, we were told they didn’t have any. Not sure why, but we survived.

To sum it up, if you want to brag to your friends about the luxury hotel you stayed in, make your reservation elsewhere. But if you want ambiance while staying in the middle of Old San Juan, make your reservation here.
